Social media influencer Diana Namulinde, who is popularly known as Diana Skys, has been found dead in an apartment in Kyanja, a Kampala suburb.
The 24-year-old TikToker, who was also a makeup artist, fashion designer, and brand ambassador for several companies, was discovered lifeless in her bed after neighbours became concerned when she went silent for several hours.
The incident occurred on the night of February 3, 2026, in Kwaata Zone, Kyanja Ward, Kawempe Division.
According to neighbours, Diana was known to be highly active on social media and would rarely stay offline for more than five hours. A 24-hour silence prompted questions, raising alarms when she could not be reached. Neighbours later alerted the police, who accessed the apartment and confirmed her death.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, said preliminary findings indicate that Diana was strangled. He revealed that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, including a security guard attached to the apartment premises.
“Some items believed to have been stolen from the deceased were recovered, and investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding her death,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.
Diana’s body was conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Known by her aliases Nyash Maama and Ka Richwife, Diana had built a strong online following, amassing over 175,000 followers on TikTok and more than 70,000 followers on Instagram. Her content often showcased a luxurious lifestyle, but close friends say behind the glamour was a young woman working relentlessly to secure her future.
Beyond the tragic loss of a rising influencer, Diana’s death has renewed conversations around the safety of young women living in urban apartments despite the presence of guards and controlled access.
Many young women in Kampala, particularly those in the creative and digital economy, increasingly live alone as they pursue independence and financial stability, often relying on apartment security systems that are now under scrutiny following this incident.
Circumstances around Diana’s death raise questions about how the culprits gained access. Could this be a case of femicide?
Neighbours whose identities remain protected say some of her close friends have been freely gaining access to her home. This raises questions about whether there was foul play or compromise from the security personnel.
