Breaking Boundaries: Suzan Nsibirwa Appointed First Female Managing Director at Nation Media Group.

In a historic move, Suzan Nsibirwa, a prominent figure in the field of Journalism , has assumed the role of Managing Director at Monitor Publications Limited, a subsidiary of the Nation Media Group. Suzan will oversee the operations of prominent private media outlets in Uganda, The Daily Monitor, The East African, and broadcasting channels NTV-Uganda and Spark TV.

She becomes the first female Journalist to ascend to such a leadership position in Uganda. She has served as a member of the Strategy and Audit, Risk & Compliance Board Committees of the same company. Suzan takes the reins from Tonny Glencross who has steered the private media since 2015.

Suzan Nsibirwa brings over 25 years of extensive experience in Journalism, Communication and Advertising to her new role. She is the Managing Director of Ayiva Consulting Solutions. Suzan has held leadership positions at renowned organizations including URGE – Uganda, DFCU Bank, Vision Group, and MTN Uganda. She is currently the Board Chairperson at the African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME).

“She brings expertise in communication, business strategy, and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders”.  Announced Stephen Gitagama, Nation Media group Chief Executive Officer.

Suzan’s appointment has received widespread applause from various spectrums.  Her leadership comes at a challenging time, with the media landscape facing economic uncertainties and a shrinking space.

While announcing Suzan’s appointment, Gitagama urged the team at Nation Media to rally behind her. “Please join me in congratulating Susan on her appointment. I am confident that you will all accord her the support required to succeed in this role”. He said.

Suzan Nsibirwa is not only a trailblazer in Journalism but also an associate professional of the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the UK. She holds a degree in Mass Communication from Makerere University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nicosia, Cyprus.
